Ms. Hunter's Art Classes-WINTER 2005

Balance

BALANCE is the equalness of 'weight' in each side of a centre so that no part of the work seems heavier or overpowers the other parts.

Balance can be:
-symmetrical (the two halves of the work are exactly the same)
-assymetrical (the halves are different but are balanced by the careful positioning of the elements)
-radial (objects are positioned around a central point)
-horizontal or vertical
-felt or approximate
