Culture Vocabulary

Culture/ subculture
Cultures can be big or small.  They can overlap, and within a dominant culture people can belong to several groups or subcultures.
These overlapping groups may be identified by ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, geographic location and mobility, income, occupation, education and other factors.

Ethnocentrism
An attitude or outlook in which values derived from one's own cultural background (the colonizer's) are applied to other cultural contexts where different values are operative.
