Lusterware, Its Origins and Variations

The great achievement of lusterware began in Mesopotamia around the ninth century. With the expansion of Islam, potters gradually brought their skills and techniques across North Africa into Moorish Spain. Later, the knowledge of lusterware advanced to Renaissance Italy, then on through Europe to England.

Document the development of artistic and technical skills that evolved within the luster tradition. Whenever possible, name the artists who worked in lusterware in the following locations:
