Ms. Hunter's Art Classes-WINTER 2005

Cultural Context

Neil Bissoondath's (1993) novel The Innocence of Age, which is about generations and cultures in Toronto, contains the following exchange.  Lorraine, one of the principal characters, says:
"Differences are easy to find. It's the similarities you really have to dig for."
After a moment Pasco said, "Sometimes the differences overwhelm the similarities."
"But only if you let them, " Lorraine replied. (p.274)
