Neil Bissoondath's (1993) novel The Innocence of Age, which is about generations and cultures in Toronto, contains
the following exchange. Lorraine, one of the principal characters, says:
"Differences are easy to find. It's the similarities you really have to dig for."
After a moment Pasco said, "Sometimes the differences overwhelm the similarities."
"But only if you let them, " Lorraine replied. (p.274)
